Will the Astros win the World Series this fall?
Gallery Furniture CEO Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale is betting on it.
The retailer is hosting a free mattress promotion if the Astros win—but customers must purchase a Tempur-Pedic, Sealy, or Stearns & Foster sleep set priced at $3,000 or more.
This isn’t the first time Mack has placed a bet on the Astros. The company held this same free mattress promotion in 2017 and refunded more than $13 million to customer participants.
Of course, this isn’t even the first big bet Mack has placed this year.
In June, McIngvale placed a two million dollar wager on the Astros at 10-1, which would net $20 million and be one of the largest wins in U.S. sports betting history.
This past April, he placed a seven-figure wager that the Houston Cougars would win the NCAA’s men’s basketball tournament.
He’s also known for other regular promotions centered around things like the Super Bowl or presidential elections, as well as his philanthropy.
McIngvale understands the importance of promotions like this, and he knows that this is a great way to keep Gallery Furniture at the top of consumer’s minds.
