Mattress News: HSM’s New Equipment, Mattress Concierge Partners with Gold Bond, Eclipse Revamps Lifetime Collection, Precision Textiles’ New Facility

HSM installs new equipment at its Wisconsin facility, Mattress Concierge introduces its redesigned hospitality collection in partnership with Goldbond, Eclipse reintroduces Lifetime collection and Precision opens a new manufacturing facility.

With the need for foam alternatives at an all-time high, Hickory Springs Manufacturing Company (HSM) has installed new equipment at its bedding business facility in Sheboygan, Wisconsin to produce its InnerRest pocketed-coil line, a new capability for the site.

HSM’s InnerRest coil unit is made with the company’s True Motion Separation technology, which consists of centrally glued, ultrasonically encapsulated coils that dissipate motion.

HSM Micro Comfort Layer

In addition, HSM has relocated some of its existing Micro pocketed-coil equipment to its bedding business facility in Phoenix, Arizona, enabling HSM’s bedding business to produce that product line for the first time in the western part of the country.

Combined with existing capabilities for both product lines on the East Coast in Hickory, the moves expand the company’s national manufacturing footprint.

“With the ongoing shortage of foam and rising prices that continue to impact the industry, we have seen a tremendous uptick in demand for our pocketed coils, which provide our customers with an alternative solution, while providing the same – or even better – level of performance,” says Tim Witherell, vice president of bedding at HSM. “With the addition of InnerRest production at our Sheboygan plant and the Micro product line in Phoenix, we have further strengthened our ability to meet the need for pocketed coils from our customers nationwide.

“Even prior to the supply issues the industry is currently facing, the product lines were in high demand,” he adds. “With consumers still looking to upgrade their bedding to improve the quality of their sleep, consumer preference for pocketed coil and hybrid mattress construction has been on the rise. The products’ ability to contour to the shape of the body offers pressure relief benefits to the back, neck, shoulders, and hips—a key feature consumers seek when looking to improve the quality of their sleep.”

Mattress Concierge Partners with Gold Bond for Redesigned Hospitality Collection

Mattress Concierge worked with its exclusive manufacturing partner, Gold Bond, to redesign its Luxury and Classic collections with enhanced materials.

“Our relationship with Mattress Concierge began more than 10 years ago on the fundamental idea that we will continually evaluate design elements and materials to manufacture a mattress line for hotels that is superior to anything available on the market today,” says Bob Naboicheck, president of Gold Bond. “The success Mattress Concierge has had in attracting a substantial clientele and adding to it, including some of the most noteworthy properties along the East Coast, is validation that our partnership markets bedding that meets the highest standards in the hospitality industry.”

“As a trusted supplier of exceptionally comfortable and durable hospitality mattresses to luxury and boutique properties, we are pleased to offer our clients what is undeniably the most durable and supportive innerspring system on the market,” says Robert Richards, managing director of Mattress Concierge. “Any independent property valuing their guests’ sleep experience ought to be speaking with us, as our mission is to further enhance the considerable efforts they have invested into creating one-of-a-kind hotel experiences.”

The Luxury and Classic Collections will be constructed with Quantum Edge Elite coils surrounding the Bolsa innerspring coil system, both from Leggett & Platt, along with six-gauge steel border rods and 10 steel edge guards. The inner cores also include 10 pounds of natural cotton and two layers of high-density comfort foam.

Eclipse Reintroduces Lifetime Collection as Premium Line

At the summer Las Vegas Market, Eclipse International reintroduced its Lifetime collection with a group of ultra-high-density mattresses. The collection will be branded under Eastman House and will be marketed under the tagline, “Comfort built to last.”

The Lifetime mattresses are manufactured with a combination of ultra-strong components including 12 ½ gauge innerspring springs—which the company says are the strongest, most durable springs in the mattress industry—and ultra-premium foams. Each model will be made with Eastman House’s patented Lumbar Zone support system, which frames the center of the innersprings with a steel support system.

“Consumers have shown a strong desire for beds that are extra durable, made with premium materials and provide optimal comfort and support,” says Stuart Carlitz, president and chief executive officer of Eclipse International. “The Lifetime collection will be a highly desired line for the big and tall consumer and those who have had prior issues with body impressions and want a quality, heavy-duty mattress that will keep its shape and maintain performance for years to come despite the size or weight of the sleeper. The lifetime collection has been a trademark brand of ours dating back to 1946.”

Eclipse’s Las Vegas showroom is in suite 1118 of building B at the World Market Center.

Precision Textiles To Open North Carolina Facility

Precision Textiles has signed a lease for a new 160,000-square-foot, 25-acre campus at 163 Glen Road in Troy, North Carolina. The new plant is expected to be operational by Sept. 1 and will employ 100, all from the local area.

Once a textile production plant that serviced the automobile industry, Precision Textiles’ first domestic manufacturing facility outside of its New Jersey headquarters. It will double the manufacturer’s needle-punch nonwovens production and boost its high-loft quilting fiber output by 50 percent.

In addition to its production capacity, the facility includes warehousing space. The workforce at the facility will include new employees as well as some experienced staff from the textiles company that previously operated the plant.

“Demand for these products has risen to the point where we are near full capacity at our home facility in New Jersey,” says Scott Tesser, chief executive officer of Precision Textiles. “In addition to keeping pace with current demand, this investment positions us for future growth as we continue to expand our customer base in the bedding and automotive industries.

“This new factory will enable us to better meet the needs of our customers throughout the nation and logistically helps us reduce transit time to those located across the Southeast,” he continues. “It will also give us more capacity to better serve both existing and new customers. The plant previously had a nice history in textiles manufacturing, so it provided us with a head start in terms of equipment and experienced employees.”
